Go Now Hostel Brisbane Review

Go Now Hostel is ok if you want to stay there for a night or two in my opinion.

When I came to the west end I knew I was looking for a hostel that I was going to be staying at for a couple of months.

We chose Go Now because the trip advisor reviews seemed good and they had free WiFi which was one of the things we were looking for, the WiFi was good too.

However there isn’t really anywhere comfy for everyone to sit around, they do have an outside area but the chairs are metal and uncomfortable and most of them are broken, there is a sofa outside and god knows how long it’s been there, or what is on it.

The place was not very clean at all, the upstairs shared bathrooms were a bit disgusting and the rooms themselves were quite cramped with nowhere for you to really put your stuff.

The beds themselves were actually really comfy, as they use proper mattresses not these thin things that most hostels use.

They also offered free breakfast (bread and spreads) which is a bit of a plus.

There is no pool and the whole outside area was just a car park, also there is no pool at this place either which I think was the first hostel I have stayed at since being in Australia that doesn’t have one.

I think if you are only planning on staying for a night or 2 then it’s absolutely fine but personally I would not want to stay here any longer than that, there’s nowhere really to chill in comfort and the rooms get really hot in the day so you don’t even want to stay in there.

Also the photos I have used I didn’t take, I got them off google so they make the place look better than it actually is.

I give this place only 1 Bee…….. Sorry guys!

Aussie Way Backpackers Brisbane Review

I stayed at Aussie Way for nearly 3 months.

I was looking for somewhere that was quiet (not a party hostel) and that I could settle for a little bit as I had decided to stay in Brisbane for Christmas and try to find a job. So I needed somewhere that was good for meeting people, not too expensive and quiet enough that I could get a decent night’s sleep.

It didn’t fail to disappoint for those.

I instantly met people and we ended up forming quite a big group and we all ended up staying for a while over the Christmas period.

Like any hostel it’s all about the people you meet so anyone else who goes to stay at Aussie way may not be as lucky to meet such a big group, I hear it’s really quiet there now (Feb 2016). Depends what you want really.

As for the actual hostel it was clean the rooms are good sizes, only 4 in a dorm although the bunk beds are very rocky but the beds themselves are really comfortable.

The kitchen is clean but really small so it can be hard to make your food in there, but you get used to the timing of it all.

They have a back building which is for couples or singles who want a bit more privacy as they have their own kitchen and lounge area upstairs and downstairs, people from the other building are now not allowed over that side.

There is free WiFi available in the lounge areas and by the pool for the dorm building and then the back building you can use the WiFi in your rooms, which is generally ok, I managed to watch episodes of the walking dead on it and facetime home but then sometimes it would be rubbish and not work at all but mostly it was ok.

There was a very friendly atmosphere here and you didn’t have to worry about anyone taking any of your stuff, I used to leave my laptop in the TV room downstairs while I was at work for my friend to use and never had any issues or worried about it.

They have 2 lounges and that was really nice, especially on lazy days you can actually have a sofa day, watching TV (lots of episodes of friends) and just stay on the sofa all day! Sometimes exactly what you need and not many hostels have!

The location is really good, right next to Caxton Street which has a few bars on, also Paddington with a nice place for some chicken wings called the yard bird, and don’t miss city backpackers just down the road for your cheap drinks!

Coles is also a 5min walk and the city takes about 15mins to get to but you don’t even notice the walk as you have so much to see on the way.

The only downfalls for me were no alcohol on the premises at all, I didn’t want a party hostel at all but it’s nice to come back from work and have a glass of wine or a beer without having to try and hide it in a water bottle! – What they don’t know can’t hurt them hey! But be careful because if you get caught then they will more than likely throw you out, I think you can blame us lot for that as we kind of pushed the limits over the Christmas period with drinking, as the day went on we got more and more drunk and cared less and less about trying to hide booze. So sorry about that guys although totally worth it.

The other downfalls are the couple they have working there, Sorin and Michaela, now sorin is not too bad most of the time but he can get rather moody at times but then who doesn’t? Michaela on the other hand just has a stick up her arse! She would come and moan to everyone about keeping their rooms clean and get us to clean our areas although they were already fine! No music by the pool even on a weekend. She just constantly seemed miserable and seemed to hate everyone staying there which made me wonder why she’s there if she hated it so much? Although I think she just enjoyed telling people to do things. They left for a few weeks and everyone seemed a lot happier and we had music on etc. no one complained! No one took it too far!

Also at 10pm everything gets shut off and you have to be quiet! Miserable guts would tell us all we can’t even be outside after 10pm and she even shouted at us to leave the table one night at 10.01pm – get a grip woman!

aussie-way-backpackers (1)

The pool is a good size but there’s not much room for sunbathing, we did spend a lot of time round the pool playing games but often got told to be quiet. We bought some rubber rings the one day which got thrown away by the staff!

They just don’t seem to like fun in this hostel at all.

I won’t dwell too much on that, it was a good hostel and I did enjoy my time there, but I think there could be a few things in place to make it a more enjoyable experience.

Such as BBQ nights for the whole hostel, a little more relaxed about music etc., especially during the weekend and in the day time! It’s not supposed to feel like prison!………….Let the miserable ones go!

Being able to have a couple of drinks would be good too but that will never happen.

So I did enjoy my time here but I think that was more about the people I was with than the actual place, don’t get me wrong it is a nice place but I think they could just be a little more relaxed with things, while I understand it’s in a residential area and people have to be respectful, they are right next to a load of flats for a university who play music etc. so I think it’s a bit silly to restrict it so much in this hostel.

Anyway that’s just my opinion, and if you are genuinely looking for somewhere really really quiet then this is the place for you!

Taking the people I met here out of the equation (as that’s really the only reason I liked it so much here)

I give this place 3 Bee’s

Brisbane Feb update

Diary update time again then.

So last left off on the 31st Jan when I was packing up my stuff ready to go to New Zealand to see my mom and rich (step dad) for a couple of days.

So Monday 1st Feb –Thursday 4th was spend in NZ where I have wrote about that in a separate post, so if you haven’t already read that one then you can HERE

So I got back on the Thursday around 6pm and just spent the rest of the night chilling on the balcony with Lisa and Abi, having a couple of ciders and a chat and then went to bed early as I had work the next day.

Friday 5th

This was Lisa’s b’day, and she wanted to go out just for a couple of drinks.

When I finished work I stopped off at the pub over the road with some of the people in my team for a couple of drinks and then got back home to the hostel around 6:30pm to find Lisa and Abe both looking very ready to go out so I finished my long phone conversation with my dad (miss him loads but at least I get to see him in a couple of weeks too! Yayyy)

Anyways…….. We ended up going out around 7ish and went on the Brisbane (nearly called it Brighton then) wheel, and me being me I obviously demanded that we make a music video whilst on there!

Well what else are you supposed to do on a wheel? Look at the view? I don’t think so my friends! It’s all about the wheel music videos! I’m currently on 2!

Obviously I can’t let you miss out on it so here it is…….(just click the date)

90’s mix dancing and happy birthday Lisa 󾌴󾬖

So after the wheel we then decided to cross over the bridge and go to the Irish bar I went to with everyone from Aussie Way on New Year’s. It’s called Irish Murphy’s and its right by the Casio in the CBD. We stayed in there for a little bit drinking Guinness, well I was drinking Guinness anyway! It actually tastes really good in here, nice and creamy and really good price for Brisbane! They also have live music on every night and the bands playing are usually pretty good.

We stayed in here for a while listening to the bands play and getting a bit hot while watching them….. What is it about a bloke with a guitar? Or someone who can sing? Uh-huh!!!
Anyway after we stopped dreaming about them treating out body’s like a guitar (you gota keep on strumming…….. thanks Beyoncé! ☺)

We then decided to head over to the valley as that’s where the party is at!

Now I would put this in read at your own risk just because my friend Mandy came to play but to be honest I really can’t be bothered to make a whole new post about the evening because it wasn’t that crazy and I didn’t do enough Mandy to warrant it. So just deal with it or skip to the next day!

So we get to the valley and go into the first bar and as soon as we have our drinks it’s like I can just sense there is Mandy around me so I decide I am going to buy some and then go on a mission, I say mission I didn’t leave my seat just asked one of the guys on the table next to us if he could get any. He then decided to come and join our table as did his friends and after about 10mins someone came over and told me where I could get some from.

It’s not fucking cheap out here mind!

$25 for one fucking tab which has 0.1 in! What the fuck is that going to do?

I usually buy them in bags back home and get a whole gram for my £30! But beggars can’t be choosers her so I decide to buy 2 and hope for the best!

We end up grabbing those and then leaving to go to the next bar where we get some drinks and go sit down on the sofas and pop our tabs, I almost immediately decide that I can’t feel anything off just the one so take the second.

And after about 20mins I start to feel a little bit from them, but not loads which was upsetting me somewhat. However I decided to try not think about it not working and try to concentrate on it working otherwise I would have just gone and bought more and before I would know it I would have no fucking money left just after one night!

Abi ended up leaving as she had to be up early the next day and me and Lisa went and sat outside to smoke where we met some guys….

12743482_10153953876706912_7490666249435077452_n (1)

The one was rather beautiful but seemed a bit like a douche bag! But ahhh well I will chat to them anyway. We stayed with them for a bit outside just talking then they said they were going back to their flat to get more Mandy and party all night so we obviously decided to join them, however when we got back to the flat the sexy boy had realised that his Mandy was in his car so he ended up leaving for a while we all stayed there and chatted the night away chain smoking as you do.

Sexy man eventually came back and said that he had 4 tabs of Mandy but he had to break into his car to get them because he couldn’t find his keys, so he smashed the window of his car to get them, tbh if I knew they were in my car and I wanted them I’m not sure what I would do! Probably the same haha.

Anyways he came back and then his brother ended up coming over driving up from gold coast at 5am while fucked from another party! Naughty drivers hey (like I can talk I know)

And then as soon as he came in I hear Lisa call me into the front room and say she’s ordered an uber and then she says 4minutes and I was like oh ok were going then, I thought we were going to party all night! But decide to just go say goodbye – probably for the best anyways!

Saturday 6th

So we go back to the hostel and its around 6am get into bed and pretty much stay there for the rest of the day apart from that I do actually get out of bed to go grab some food once I get my appetite back and stop eating my cheeks! Must have worked more than I thought hey!

Sunday 7th

Spent shopping at Coles and getting stopped on the way out for ‘stealing’ as I had gone to the help yourself nuts and as everyone I know does, fill up the bag with all sorts of nuts and then mark it as peanuts!

Well seems like they are cracking down on this peeps, haha they stopped me and told me that I had to pay full price of $30 instead of my $3 or they would call the Po po and I could get deported lol – for a bag of fucking nuts? What eves! But yeah I paid it! I was starving and couldn’t be bothered with arguing.

So I then went and had breakfast and coffee in one of the restaurants on the way home, food in the west end is so good and not bad priced either.

Monday 8th – Thursday 12th

Pretty boring really, work work work! Back to a normal life now for a little bit anyway, only about 6 more weeks of this job left now!

Lisa and Abi moved out on Wednesday, Lisa went down to Sydney and Abi got a job with a family as an Au Pair.

So I’m back on my own again, it’s strange but I am thinking being alone for a bit will be good for me, try and save money as I haven’t actually saved anything and I only have 6 weeks left of this job before the contract finishes and then I need to do my farm work – although I am thinking of doing Au Pair work with a family on a farm who can sign me off for farm work instead. I’m more likely to do that than work on a farm, I know myself way too well.

Friday 12th

Ok so I had worked 10-6 all week and while I know that doesn’t sound bad for some reason working those hours in this job is really strange it feels like you’re working 6am-8pm! It’s so strange but its hard work and then obviously getting shouted at mainly is not too good for stress levels, anyway I decided to buy an adult colouring book after this week to use while on the phones and I tell you what it works so well.

Anyway I finished work and walked to the bus stop which is conveniently next to a booze shop, I decided to buy myself some wine for me to de-stress, however as I had decided that I was poor again then I thought instead of a bottle I would buy a box of goon and make it last me a few days.

When I got back I obviously decided to have a glass (well I couldn’t find a boob cake to celebrate the booby birthday so next best thing – wine from a box which may or may not contain. Traces of eggs and fish! Mmmnnn lovely

– Ahhh doesn’t taste as bad as I remember! So one glass led to another glass and then I decided to finally go downstairs and join other people from the hostel, something I had not actually done as it was just easy with Abi and Lisa being here, we would just chill on the balcony or go out together.

So yes I went downstairs to the big table and got to chatting and drinking with everyone and then 10pm came where they told us to move away from that area, so I remember walking to the other side of the hostel and we all sat around there and then that is where my mind stops working and all I see is black.

Saturday 13th

I roll over in my bed and open my eyes to the sunlight coming in through the open curtains and feel almost like I am sizzling like a vampire I quickly sit up to shut the curtains, omg has someone just punched me in the head? As soon as I sit up major major headache comes!

Erghh………I feel sick!

When did I come to bed?

Why do I still have a shoe on?

Why don’t I have a top on?

But I have denim shorts on?

Erghhhh I feel sick…….

Quick bathroom time!

And then I start throwing up! Ahhh yes goon hello, I do remember you!

This keeps happening for the next hour or so, I go to bed and try to sleep but my head is pounding that hard that it actually hurts more to lie down than it does to sit up and I keep being sick so decide to stay in the bathroom and sleep leaning against the wall for a little bit.

Seriously what the fuck happened last night?

I cannot remember a single thing after leaving the table, maybe I just went to bed? Yeah I must have!

I go lie in bed and put the fan on me and probably look like a special case, I hear the door open and someone call my name, I can’t even move or hardly speak so I just say ‘yeah??’

I hear a man’s voice then say that he needs to speak to me about last night and I then think

‘Oh shit! Definitely didn’t go to bed then Sami!’

“Yeah ok but can you come here please, I can’t move”

So he comes over and then says my behaviour was unacceptable and asks me if I remember and I tell him no not a single thing.

He says I should apologise to the night manager because he was the one who had to deal with me and that he had to threaten to call the police just so I would go to bed. – whoops!

He also tells me he’s putting me on a daily rate rather than a weekly rate of pay at the hostel because of my behaviour and then when I try to ask him more of what happened he tells me he doesn’t have time and leaves.

I spent the rest of the day being sick, then lying back in bed trying not to feel sick all the way up to around 7pm when I finally decided to try and eat something, and piece the night together but nothing and the only photo i find on my phone is this……

That is the food market right at the bottom of the street after all the clubs so i apparently did go out, i seem to have a flash back now of wanting food but obviously this doesn’t look very open so im guessing i didn’t get any!

When I woke up I saw one of the Italian guys in my room and I apologized to him, as I said the manager had come to speak to me about being loud and he then started laughing saying that I was singing on the balcony and then I was singing in bed too. I honestly cannot remember any of this, but apparently I was singing Beyoncé and the spice girls so at least I was singing excellent songs!

Whoops! But oh well hey!

So I made my food of pot noodle and bread and it took me about an hour to eat and I stayed in bed for the rest of the night watching prison break.

Sunday 14th

Valentine’s Day! Boooooooo! Yes I am already very aware I have no one in my life thank you very much!

Well I decided to go shopping again for my food for the week and then I treated myself to some breakfast again, which seems to be becoming a Sunday tradition which I am definitely thinking of keeping even though I am trying to save money!

And that was the day really!

Food, updating blog lots of chilled out boring stuff which I imagine will be the case now for the next few weeks!

Means less to write which is good for me!

Monday 15th – Thursday 17th

Lots of boring boring boring, work work work and nothing more to add other than the new guy in my room snores so loud it makes me want to actually murder someone and then there is also a girl who keeps singing – I say singing lightly as she cannot sing for shit! But she sings none the less and I can’t then get to sleep! What a cunt bag!

Also just spending the week trying to find farm work for when I finish my work with Aus Post in April which I may have found something just waiting for the phone call to confirm ☺

oh and a plus……I havnt smoked for over a week now thanks to this book!

and thats all for now folks, over and out!

Auckland break

Feb 1st

I arrived in New Zealand on the 1st Feb, I used a company called Super Shuttle to get to the hotel from the airport, which cost $36

Yes that’s correct – a hotel!! I’m not staying in a hostel for a few days, woooppppppp.

So I arrived around 5pm and got the shuttle to ‘Hotel de Bret’ where I checked in, they took me upstairs to the room and showed me around. What a step up from a hostel, the beds looked so comfy and the bathroom looked amazing, including a bath. – However I didn’t end up using the bath (I feel like I need to be in the right mood for a bath, and I also need candles, a glass of wine, possibly a spliff)

After they had explained the room and what time free breakfast was in the morning I decided to have a look at the room service menu as my mom had said to me that I could order food and some wine to the room as I was alone that evening and they were joining me early hours of the next morning. I have wrote a review on the hotel if you want to read click HERE.

However after glancing at the menu I soon decided against it as the food and wine were so expensive and I thought I could probably go out and buy my own food and wine for the cost of just a meal. So that’s what I did.

I ventured out of the hotel and walked up Queen Street which is the main street, there were so many food places, shops and bars, seemed like a good place to go.

After a while of walking up queen street I eventually came across a liquor shop where I bought a couple of bottles of wine, well 1 bottle of bubbles and 1 bottle of red as the fridge in the room was not big enough to fit a bottle of wine I thought I could drink the bubbles first and then the red would be fine for after – good thinking bat man!!

So after I had the wine – the most important thing obviously I then went In search of food, I ended up just getting a subway as it was cheap and I thought as I was going to be getting drunk a big foot long sandwich would go down quite well.

I then went back to the hotel and decided to rent ‘Frozen’ from downstairs (well obviously!!) and then I went upstairs and sat on the extra comfy sofas while I updated my blog and drank my bubbles while watching bridesmaid’s which was on the TV, making snap chats getting drunker and drunker by the second.

I remember going downstairs to have a ciggie and my key wouldn’t work to get back in the front of the hotel and I had to be let in – although I didn’t remember this until It happened the following night and I had a flash back and thought – “Uh-Oh”. Haha oh well hey.

Anyways, back upstairs to finish of my blog and watching frozen while drinking yet more wine, I don’t really remember much only what I found on snap chat the next morning although as usual I don’t actually watch them all – they are way to cringworthy for me to watch, entertaining for you, soul destroying for me! Haha

2nd Feb

I woke up around 6:30am hearing some rustling going on in the lounge, I remember thinking

And then thinking who the hell is that, opening my eyes and looking around and wondering where I was, and then quickly jumping up in bed thinking…

I quickly ran into the front room and there she was unpacking her stuff, big smile on her face and me being so sleepy I am sure I had a silly smile on my face. I ran over and gave her a big hug.

It felt so good to be hugging her after 4 whole months of not seeing her, its strange because it feels like it’s been ages but it also feels like it has gone really fast.

Then Tate came out the bathroom and I ran over and gave him a big hug too, was so good to see both of them but as I was so tired and possibly a little hungover or maybe even still a little drunk it all felt a little surreal, mom did say for me to go back to bed for a bit but I couldn’t as I was so excited to see them.

So we stayed up and chatted and before we knew it, it was time for our free breakfast so we headed downstairs to the restaurant where we had free coffee and continental breakfast full of pastries and muffins, toast and cereals. For a continental breakfast it wasn’t too bad actually. (Well we are in a posh hotel so it’s going to be good haha)

After breakfast we went back upstairs and got ready and then headed out, we did go down to the reception where she told us of a few things that we should do while we were there but as we only had a couple of days and already had things booked in for tomorrow we didn’t really have time to go and do all these things, so we just went and got a hop on hop of bus around the city.

This was actually really nice because we did get to see a lot of places around the city and some nice gardens where rich was obviously in his element taking photos.

4.1454414237.trinity-cathedral 4.1454414237.bastion-point

We got off the bus at the sky tower for our last stop and mom was saying she wanted to do the sky walk, which I do believe she got confused with the observation tower, as when we got to the desk for booking the ‘sky walk’ I looked at picture for it and saw you were harnessed onto something and you were walking along something very very small. – After we looked at this in more detail we all did decide that this was not actually what we wanted to do and headed for the observation deck.

And thank god we didn’t opt for the sky walk as for me anyway the observation deck was hard enough, the windows were slanted and the floor had glass areas, which I found incredibly difficult to walk over, my legs would shake and they felt like jelly. Rich also did not enjoy this bit of the deck but I think he was better than me with going close to the window.

Mom however was walking along no problem – I am sure this woman used to be scared of heights!! Maybe she really did want to do the sky walk? Hmmm…..

After we came out of the sky tower we spotted an Irish bar over the road so we naturally had to enter the Irish bar for a Guinness, on our way over to the bar we saw someone doing the sky Jump, which looked horrendous. – A big target that you drop towards and from so high up. Yep don’t think I’m going to be doing one of those anytime soon.

After the Irish bar we had a stroll back to hotel along the harbour and chilled there for a bit until it was time to go for food again.

I had been speaking to my friend Kerry from back home who had spent a lot of time in Auckland a few years ago and I had wanted to go to the bar that she had worked at but we did look at the menu and it seemed to have changed since she was there so we decided to go somewhere else.

We went somewhere called snapdragon as they had a deal on for a burger, chips and a beer for $15 and it was so good, and sitting right on the waterfront was a really nice place to sit and enjoy the views and people watch.

We stayed there for a little bit after and had a cocktail and then decided to have a stroll along the water front where we found another little bar called Barabra – Not Barbra! Where the guy who owned the place came over and recommended a cider called bills, which had the apple logo on and he did tell us that it’s the only company still allowed to use that logo, I think he had it first maybe……I can’t really remember but it tasted alright anyway so we all had one of those and watched the sun go down which was really nice.

It was then massively late at 8pm and we were all absolutely knackered so we all headed back to the hostel and within a couple of minutes I could hear snoring through the curtains, which is what I probably should have done too, but I wanted to take advantage of the good Wi-Fi so I streamed ‘The Revenant’ online – if you haven’t watched it, then you should! Excellent film!

(Hmmmm Leo and tom hardy – YES PLEASE!!!)

3rd Feb

We spent most of the morning lazing around as we didn’t really have anything to do until the afternoon.

We did go down for breakfast around 10am just before the free breakfast and we all had something off the extra menu this time as it was my beautiful mommy’s birthday!! So we thought we would treat ourselves.

The food was amazing, what a great start to the day, then we went back upstairs where we stayed again for a couple of hours before we were getting picked up for our wilderness tour. I used this time to take advantage of the good free Wi-Fi and call Kerry and Kirsty back home. Which was really nice as I felt like I hadn’t spoken to them in ages. So that was really good.

Then 12 came and it was time to get picked up to go on the wilderness tour. I have wrote more about that HERE as I thought I would give it a review.

After a great day touring around Auckland’s beautiful landscapes we got back to the hotel where we showered and got ready for the evening, we then went down to the corner bar at the hotel and had a cocktail while we were waiting for it to get a bit later so we could head to the restaurant.

I then introduced Mom and Tate to Uber, as they had never heard about it so I obviously had to show them how it worked (for those of you that don’t know it’s just a cheaper way of getting a taxi)

So off we went to the sky tower and had our food in the revolving restaurant, I have wrote a review on them so if you want to read it click HERE

As we left the sky tower it became very apparent that someone was feeling rather drunk, we stopped by the Irish bar we had gone to the day before while I smoked outside to listen to the girl singing who was very good, we then decided to head back to the hotel and go to one of the bars around there. So when we get there I get asked to go to the bar and get a bottle of wine for me and mom and a Bacardi for Rich.

When I get back mom is looking even more drunk than she was before, I soon realise that she aint guna be drinking all of this wine. Me and rich end up having to down ours because she is wanting to go and get into bed. How did she get this drunk??? It was rather funny to watch.

We head back upstairs to the hotel and all immediately pass out.

4th Feb

I woke up feeling oh so sick and not wanting to get out of bed but unfortunately we all have to check out today so up and out of bed at 9:30am and then headed down to breakfast, where I hardly ate anything! Damn you NED wine!!! Damn you to hell making me not enjoy my pastries and coffee!!!

After a few nibbles on the pastries for me we go back up to the room and grab the last of our stuff and then head downstairs to check out, we leave our bags to be stored and go for a wander down to the harbour for a coffee and to have a look at the big cruise liners.

We then head back to the hotel and just all chill there on the sofa for a little bit, then it’s time to get picked up. My shuttle bus was early so it was a very quick goodbye but I think that was probably for the best as it could have got rather emotional.

Then back of to the airport and on the plane back to Brisbane for me, and mom and rich are continuing their adventure around New Zealand.

I already miss them loads, it was such a nice couple of days to spend with them, it almost didn’t feel real as I have got so used to not seeing everyone so it does kind of feel like it was a dream to me. But a very good dream at that.

Auckland Bush and Beach Wilderness Experience Review

I was excited about doing this tour but I didn’t know too much about it, and I was really happy with the whole day.

Firstly its only half a day tour which starts around midday, so you can get a nice lie in which is good if you have been out enjoying Auckland’s nightlife.

We were greeted by our tour guide for the day at our hostel, I am rather annoyed as I can’t remember his name but he was a fantastic tour guide, he was full of interesting information about Auckland and it was a really nice surprise as I was not expecting to be told all of this information. I was expecting to get picked up and taken to these wilderness places and we would be left to roam around for a bit on our own and explore.

But we got on the little mini bus and he popped on his headset with microphone, and as we drove out the city he was telling us lots of information about the place which I found absolutely fascinating.

He told us about millions of years ago back when the dinosaurs were around new Zealand  and Australia were joined together but ended up breaking off and when that happened new Zealand only had dinosaurs which became extinct and they did not have any native animals which meant that they missed out on the evolution of plants and mammals, which meant that their Forrest is the same as what it was when the dinosaurs were around, and the rest of the world does not have the same plants and trees because we have had evolution of mammals who ate lots of the plants and trees causing them to change with time.

I found that absolutely incredible to hear, and that Auckland is actually an active volcano which will probably erupt in a few hundred years, which I think is quite scary but also fascinating.

So our first stop was at the Arataki visitor centre where we walked along the wooden walkways to look out at the incredible views of the ocean and the Forrest.

We could see 2 different oceans from where we were as Auckland has such a small width. So we could see the Pacific Ocean and the Tasman Sea which was pretty cool to see, and the views were also incredible.

After this we all hopped back on the bus and drove to a rainforest where we took a hike up through the trees and the running water streaming through the forest up to the top where we could look at the waterfall which was a pretty good sight, and we were again told more information about what this water fall was used for by the Māori people, they used to chop trees down at the top of the water fall and let them build up until the pressure from the water would push them down the waterfall, which was a quicker way for them to get all these logs down to the bottom.

4.1454500655.tramping-to-waterfall 4.1454500655.waterfall 12662039_10153921901906912_5590947563652589539_n

On the way back to the bus we stopped of next to a big tree and again told some interesting info about the trees, from the one side you looked at it and looks like a really strange tree but what happens is that another tree started growing around it and it eventually strangles the old tree which then dies and disappears leaving the new tree. We saw this and then there was actually another tree that was wrapping its self around this tree – karma baby!

We walked back down and then sat down for about 15mins and had some biscuits, and some L&P (new Zealand’s own soft drink, which is lemony goodness) we were also given some NZ honey to try which was really good and they use it for things like sore throats and colds etc.

Then we moved onto Piha beach which is a volcanic beach with black sand, although it didn’t look too dark to me but the sun was shining on it so maybe that’s why, as when I picked up the sand it did look quite dark in my hand.

It was really nice to sit around here looking at the volcanoes and the black sands.

After this it was time to head back but not before stopping off somewhere to see a really big Kauri tree, it was huge and we were told it was around 300 years old which was crazy how big it was, you couldn’t even see the bottom of it.

After looking at this we then hopped back on the bus and were taken back to our hotel, but not before being told about how New Zealand got so famous for its wine, and we were shown one of the first wine sellers houses on the way home which was very interesting also.

So I thought this tour was really good, and well worth the money.

I really do wish I remembered the bloke’s name who took us on the tour as I think he made it what it was.

I would 100% recommended and give it a big 5 bees.

Hotel DeBrett, Auckland Review

Hotel DeBrett was a really nice place to stay, and especially for a backpacker used to staying in 6 bed dorm rooms, this certainly felt like a luxury get away.

As soon as I arrived for check in they knew who I was straight away, I didn’t need to give any ID over but I did need to pay a $100 holding fee (thank god I had enough in my account)

Check in did not take long at all and I was taken up to my room where I was given a tour and then asked what kind of milk I wanted bringing up.

The room looked amazing, and there was a rainfall shower and a bath, which I was planning on using as I have not had a bath in forever but ended up not using it unfortunately. The shower was amazing though.

boutique-suite-thumb 2241284-Hotel-DeBrett-Bathroom-1-RTS

There was a TV in the room with a DVD player and you could rent films from downstairs in the hotel, although the collection of films was not that great but I think mostly people won’t be wanting to rent films while staying in Auckland so I guess that’s not a massive deal.

They did also have a lot of books that you could read downstairs in the reading room which is next to the restaurant.

We also had free WiFi and it was really good, really fast and didn’t cut out at all, I managed to facetime people back home without it cutting out at all, and I watched a film streaming it online and worked perfectly.

We were given lots of freebies too, lots of bathroom stuff and lots of teas and coffee’s which naturally I stole as I’m a backpacker so need to take advantage of these things now don’t I.

The beds were so comfy they were insane, like you never want to get out of bed comfy.

The only downfall for this place for me personally was the price of food and drink, but it’s a nice hotel and I’m a cheapskate backpacker so I can’t put it down just for that as mostly the people staying here will be a bit more upper class than me, as I was just jumping in on my mom and step dads booking.

But the cheapest bottle of wine on the menu was around $60 and the cheapest food was around $40 and I have stopped halving everything now and treat $1 = £1 as I know I can still buy food and drink for the same price in £’s.

But that’s just me and my cheapskate view, everything else was great and the food was incredible. We had a paid breakfast the one morning and it was incredible, even looked amazing like you don’t even want to eat it that it looks that pretty.

The coffee was also really good here, as were the cocktails.

All in all I give this place 4 bees! If I was looking at this place from the point of view for someone who would normally go there aka. Not a cheapskate then I would give it a 5 haha.

But it is from my point of view so I give it a 4

Auckland Skytower – Orbit 360⁰ Review

The sky tower was a great experience, it’s not cheap at all but I didn’t expect it to be, but the food was incredible.

This is the revolving obit 360⁰ restaurant, and it takes around an hour to do one full rotation.4.1454500655.selfie

Just be mindful that the place rotates but the side right next to the window doesn’t, which we soon realized after my mom put her bag on the side and then about 5mins later someone asked us if it was her bag that was slowly moving away from us. So we then popped it on a chair that was moving along with us.

When we arrived the sun was going down so we got to see some of the sunset which was really nice, the views were incredible sitting up there and I felt a lot more comfortable sitting down next to the window rather than standing where my legs ended up feeling like jelly.

The service here was really good, we didn’t even have to pour our own wine, well it is such an effort picking up a bottle and pouring it into wine glasses haha.

We got starters and a main each, and the food was absolutely beautiful, we couldn’t understand what was said on the menu mind, I think they were trying to be a little bit too posh with the wording of some of the things on there but a bit of pretentiousness never hurt anyone I suppose.

I didn’t actually take any pics of the food which is very unlike me, must go to show it was that good i was too busy! but here is the menu…

[embeddoc url=”http://thewanderingbee.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/dinner-january-2016-1.pdf”]

It was really nice eating and drinking up here and every time you look up you see a different part of the city. It really is such a beautiful city by day and by night.

I give this place 5 bees because even though the menu is a little hard to understand and the food is quite pricy I wouldn’t have expected anything less, as it is quite a posh place and the views just make it such a good experience and once you have asked the question of what the menu is actually saying and you get your food, it was incredible. Also not having to pour your own wine is pretty nice.

Tom The Cunt

22nd Friday night

So after we left City Backpackers we walked back to the hostel and me being me and listening to all the shit that Tom had been saying to me I fell for his lies!!

So while we were there he was telling me that he really liked me and that I didn’t know what I did to him blah blah blah….

So we got back and what I remember is sitting at the smoking table and he asked me to get up and give him a hug which I did! And sat on his lap at the table – Drunk Tom seems to like me a lot but let’s face it he’s drunk and a boy so will say whatever he thinks he needs to, to get his dick sucked! And I’m the one who is a fool who falls for it!

Yes ok I wanted that dick but still I wanted the dick and I also wanted the cherry on the cake which was him also! So I have no one else to blame for what has happened in the next few paragraphs!!

So we were sat at the table and then everyone went to bed, we then started kissing and decided to go to our favourite place – THE SHOWER!!

I don’t remember too much of the night as I was so drunk but I remember us being naked basically instantly! – God I wish his body was not so beautiful!! It’s like a drug!!

So lots of nakedness and lots of licking! But again as I mentioned in the previous story – which I will now take off password protected as I know I am never going to see or speak to him again! CLICK HERE IF YOU WANT TO READ THAT ONE!

He is way too rough with the licking! Seriously boys, if you want a girl to come all over your face you have to be gentle!! We are very sensitive down there and especially if you having any stubble rubbing your face all over us with that is going to feel the same as us rubbing sandpaper on your dicks!!!

Anyway as I said before he is certainly not the worst I have ever had but definitely not the best! And telling me he wants me to come on his face while sandpapering my vagina made me think yeah…….that isn’t going to happen at all mate!! Just fuck me now!!

  • See thinking about this makes me wonder why I was so obsessed with him in the first place? He’s not the best in bed, I think it’s the body and the body alone!! Actually I know it is as I literally could not concentrate when he had his body out! Especially when he had been in the sun with a tan! His body looked like liquid caramel that obviously you would want to lick that shit right up wouldn’t you!! But it always looks better than it tastes!!!

Anyways…..after round 1, we get up and go for a ciggy on the stairs and there he is telling me loads of crap again about how much he likes me and didn’t want to fall in love with me but that he wanted to see me again after I left! I told him I knew that wasn’t going to happen!

See I think he just enjoys playing with girls heads! I would have been perfectly ok with knowing that we were just having sex that night as again yes I did want dick and thought as I was moving out tomorrow I didn’t need to worry about him suddenly deciding that he hated me! But no no no, I got the full works of lies! I got that he didn’t want me to go, that he was sorry for being a dick and the only reason he was like that was because he was scared! Again a load of bollox that I fell into and my heart started pounding like a little girl!

We then decided we needed round 2/3/4/5 so I went back to my room to get my condoms and remember running in there to get them and tripping over Lisa’s suitcase and face planting the floor! The things we do for love DICK hey!

Ran back out and had all those rounds back in the shower and they were very hot and sweaty which the best kind of sex is! But for me only seems to happen if I really like someone!

Maybe men know this fact about most women and that’s why they lie to them so they know they will be more into the sex? Hmmm interesting thought right there!!

After I told him I had cum – (obviously I had not! Why do men always believe you when you say you have? Surely you should be able to tell! For starters…..if you leave your dick inside us long enough before jumping off you should be able to feel the walls of our vagina pulsating!! And unless we are going to some serious trouble doing pelvic floor exercise to convince you then you won’t be feeling this!!!)

So after this we sat outside the shower on the sofa for a while where I was getting lots of hugs, getting told that he liked me loads and didn’t want me to leave again….blah blah blah…

I do remember getting up and seeing an avocado on the side which I threw on him and we obviously must have forgot that it was there as I got back on the sofa lying on him being hugged and told yet again how much he liked me filling my head with shit!

We got up had another ciggy and then decided to go to bed, when we walked back through we saw the smashed avocado on the pillow and started searching our bodies for any evidence that it was us which we could not find so decided to leave it there and go to bed.

Monday 25th

He had been messaging me and said that he would walk to me to come meet me, and there’s me thinking that he wanted to come and see me because he had told me that he would want to see me after I left – so I was thinking maybe this is all we needed! Me move out and have a chance to actually go on dates with him etc.

Oh what a fool I was!!!

So yes I planned to meet him and told him he had to come to me, so I met him in the park around the corner to the hostel.

SUCH A CLASSY BIRD ME!! – But in my defence, it is very hard to have sex in a hostel with other people in your room so we decided to be ‘adventurous’

I had already been out drinking with Lisa and Abi and the African guys we met in the bar one of which decided to buy me condoms so I could go have sex with tom!! Bit strange I think but each to their own I suppose!

So I go meet him, we hug, we kiss and then go searching for the perfect place for us to fuck the night away!, we eventually settling on a tree which had a lot of shade, he takes his top off and I lick his body! God he tastes good! Off come the shorts and knickers…..

And then we proceed to fuck or should I say he fucks me up against the tree! It was alright, nothing special. Bending over leaving against a tree isn’t exactly the best way to have sex! Doesn’t get right to the point I’m wanting it to go to let’s put it that way. After a while of this it was over and we decided to go and sit down to have a cigarette. I couldn’t be bothered to put my knickers back on as I presumed we would be doing it again as we always seem to do it more than once!

I sat on top of him kissing him and hugging him and then while I was doing that he then decides to tell me that he doesn’t think we should do this anymore, and why??

Because he doesn’t want to fall in love with me! I then tell him what I think and how much I like him he tells me he doesn’t feel the same and then I get upset (well I am drunk and did like him a lot!)

I try to pull myself together as to not look like a lunatic and we walk our separate ways when I then go into drama queen mode and keep stopping along the way to cry very dramatically kickers still in my hand and wonder why this keeps happening. I get half way home and he calls me to see if I’m ok and I say oh like your bothered! And can he just continue to be a dick because it makes it a lot easier for me to forget about him!

This is what I don’t get – why play games with my head? And tell me you basically don’t want anything with me but then be nice and act like you care?? CONFUSED.COM!!

So he hangs up and I start crying again and decide to sit on the floor to have a ciggy and then even more devastating news – NO LIGHTER!!!

Luckily (or so I thought) I see a man walking up the street so I run over ask him for a lighter to which he says yes and passes me on over, while I’m trying to light my fag he then starts offering me money to go back to his, telling me that he has around $70, I tell him I’m good but thanks for the offer and he continues to try asking me to come back to his. I start to get uncomfortable (yes only after the third or fourth time he asked lol) so I say oh sorry I have a phone call and tried calling Tom as his was the only number I had in my new phone! – Shockingly he did not answer but I pretended to be on the phone to him anyway and walked off.

I then get upset again that he hasn’t answered the phone and decide I must have a pie in my face right then and there so I detour to the shop and when I get there I had to ring the bell outside which upset me a lot as I was rather confused on how to get in there at first so I ring the bell crying and the man reluctantly lets the crying woman with her knickers in her hand in to the shop. When I walk in 2 people follow me in there and also walk up to the pie counter. They had somehow got in front of me and picked up the last 2 cheap pies which again sent me into meltdown mode!

So there I am at the pie counter crying over being ditched by Tom, thinking at the time I loved him and then being upset that I had been asked to go back to the creepy man’s house and now I don’t get the pie I wanted! What is my life right now??

After a few more tears I eventually go for a steak pie, go and pay for it while walking back to the hostel eating and crying into my pie! At least I didn’t need to add salt I suppose! Tears are enough.

I sent a shout out on Facebook to anyone I could speak to, to make me feel better and go back to my room and sit on the balcony. Make a few drunken sad snapchats as I do oh so well. And then get Katy message me from back home and then go and call her for about 30mins sitting in the road outside my hostel stroking a cat crying so much that I could hardly speak.

After the phone call I go to bed and pass out!

Luckily I wake up the next morning and not really give a shit about Tom! He’s a dick and I know this now! It was never going to work out and he keeps treating me like shit! But as Lisa was saying he is a guy and knows I fall for his lies so would think to message me again next time he fancies getting his dick wet! I’m sure after reading everything I have wrote about him he won’t be doing this!

So I’m doing this for myself haha.

Aussie way to Somewhere to stay…

So yet again it’s been a couple of weeks since I last updated but this time I actually have quite a bit to update on as I’ve done a fair bit in the last couple of weeks. So let’s break it down into days.

Friday 15th

So as it was a Friday that could only mean one thing! And that thing of course was ALCOHOL!!! So this evening was spent drinking wine at the hostel and then me and a girl who had moved into my room called Philippa decided to go out for some drinks with Seb and the Italian lads in the hostel. It was quite a good evening, spent sitting outside in city backpackers drinking and smoking lots and lots and getting served shots by one of the topless waitresses! (Making me think that would have been me if I had agreed to work there)

I remember getting up to leave at one point because we had decided that we wanted to walk over to the valley to get some let’s call them ‘goodies’ however this thought was short lived once we realised it was a 30min walk so we decided to go back in and drink. After a few more shots and a few more jugs I then decided I was hungry so left and got a curry from a place called Harrys and got very upset at the fact they did not do mint dip to go with the poppadum’s! Ahhh the life of a drunk, food is obviously one of the most actually no THE most important thing in the world when you are drunk! So after my mini melt down of not being able to have mint dip I accepted the devastating news and walked home with my curry only to find Luke sitting in the TV room with his laptop, I obviously decided to go and join him where I apparently sat on the floor eating my curry but nearly missing my mouth and made him play me some of the music he had been making. I can’t exactly remember what it sounded like all I know is that I enjoyed it a lot and it made me want to go back out, thankfully I did not do this! After smoking a fag it made my head spin and I had to carry my non-functional body to bed. Not before sending a drunken message to Tom of course asking if he was awake and that I wanted to lick his body (naughty drunk Sami!!!).

Saturday 16th

I woke up feeling extremely hungover and sick this day and most of the day was spent in bed until Terhi said she wanted to go out for drinks as she wasn’t working. Well I can never say no to wine and I also know that hungover or not drinking wine will always without a doubt make me feel better (apart from the times when I have tried drinking a little wine with my friend Kirsty at 5am in the morning after lots and lots of again let’s call them ‘goodies’ where wine suddenly tastes like acid in your mouth, I mean even water at this stage tastes like something unnatural in your mouth) so yes I obviously decided that I would indeed go out for drinks as they said they were only going for a couple.

So off we went down to Caxton Street and went to the LA bar where we had a couple of drinks, but the place was really quiet so we moved onto Brewski for just one more…..

After many deep conversations about what we think is in space and what happens after we die a few of the group decide they have had enough booze and head home leaving Me, Terhi, Luke and Tim. We decide to go back to our favourite place around there which is city backpackers, as the drinks are just so cheap in there. We go in and grab a drink and then decide that we should all go to the Valley to meet the Italian boys. So we get an Uber over there and meet up with them. What happened next is a little bit of a blur. All I can tell you is we went into 2 bars and the second one we went to was rather busy and that was because they were playing all the songs you want to sing along to! ‘Living on a prayer’, ‘Oasis’, Outkast….you catch my drift. We stayed in here for a long time, dancing and singing until we realised it was around 4am, so we thought it was time for bed meanings we were only supposed to be going out for one drink!

But not before food! Well obviously!! As I was waiting in the que for a hot dog I heard a guy next to me order something that was not on the menu and asked him what it was, he informed me it was the best thing ever and boy he was not wrong! All it was, was chips, cheese and gravy but omg it was like an orgasm in my mouth so after I finished the first lot I went back up for another!

We then grabbed an uber back to the hostel and on the way back we decided that we absolutely couldn’t go to bed without balloons! (Well Me, Luke and Tim did anyway). We got dropped off and me and Terhi walked back to the hostel and the boys went to the park to wait for me, I said goodnight to Terhi and went into the room to grab the balloons. I remember leaving the hostel with said balloons and walking up to the park phone in hand making a snapchat (as I do!) and what happened from there is a mystery!

The next thing I remember (minus a few blurry images of being at the park absolutely fucked) is being stood outside the hostel where this beauty of a picture was taken…….

And I then went upstairs and sat on the balcony outside my room doing more balloons on my own. I then realised I had no idea where my phone was so I ran back to the park, fully daylight now and around 7am I couldn’t find it anywhere. My head was spinning so much I decided to go to bed and look for it in the morning.

Sunday 17th

I woke up a couple of hours later around 9am and remembered that I did not know where my phone was so I got up and ran back to the park to see the complete and utter mess we (or should I say I as I was balloon master) had left! There were balloon canister’s EVERYWHERE! But in the extremely fragile state I was In I could not even contemplate cleaning up the mess, all I cared about was my phone. The rest of the day was spent in my room feeling sorry for myself, where I decided I would do a copious amount of balloons to make me feel better. And while they don’t usually affect me I found a way that they did!

Instead of me actually feeling anything from them I found out if I did enough of them straight out of the cracker it would actually make me hallucinate, and as I was lay on my bed I remember looking down to put another canister in the cracker and looking up to find lots of as I would call them fish people surrounding me and my hands looked like gills on a fish! I spent a few hours doing this and a few hundred balloons! With the cracker it’s self-turning into things like a Rasta man, or even iron man! – New addiction began!!!

I did get up every now and then to go and search for my phone again but had no luck so I decided to go to Coles eventually and buy a new crappy phone so I had an alarm to wake me up for the next morning, and boy it was shit!!!

Monday 18th – 21st

Back to work…..

So this was the first week on the phones at work and it was quite scary at first, as the week before we had been in training and only been on the phones for 30mins, so it took some getting used to.  But the best way to learn is by actually doing something. I said it time and time again when I was at Uni trying to learn how to run a business, you won’t actually learn anything until you’re on the job! As scary as that is.

But it’s a good place to work, they had lots of things going on, like free pizza at lunch, free slush puppies and raffles etc. – swear they just want to make everyone fat with the amount of free food they give out at this joint!

Also this week I got some absolutely amazing news that Lisa who I met in Cairns was coming to Brisbane! I was so excited.

I spent the majority of the week going to work and coming home to sit in bed, watch prison break and then do lots of balloons so I could start hallucinating again! Living in an Alice and wonderland land sounds perfect to me! Would love everything to be multi coloured and just random as fuck! So I ended up doing the 400 I had left rather quickly!

I also heard some of the lads talking about me while I was in my room one night, I heard Tom moaning about me staying there until April so when I heard this I messaged Lisa asking if she wouldn’t mind moving hostel when she got here, she said that was fine so I was quite happy.

She arrived on the Wednesday night but not till rather late so we just had a catch up and decided that we would look for hostels when I got back from work the next day which we did. Managed to find a place that looked quite nice and booked it for the Saturday, then we went to the room and watched dirty dancing while drinking a little wine.

Friday 29th

I went to work and had a BBQ at work which was quite nice, and then came home at 4pm. Me and Lisa got ready and decided that we would go out for food and have a couple of drinks.

On the way out I saw Tom and Luke and told them I was leaving and said they should come out for drinks. I didn’t hear anything back from them so presumed that I wouldn’t be seeing them again.

Me and Lisa went to a Mexican restaurant where I introduced her to proper Mexican food for the first time EVER! And she loved it! – Well you would wouldn’t you! Mexican food is the bomb baby! After food we went to my favourite place – CITY BACKPACKERS OF COURSE!!

When we were there Amy text and said she was on her way. And we had a few drinks and a bit of boogying. There was also a big group of people dressed up in school uniform and while we were waiting at the bar I got chatting so a lad called Sean from Ireland – he was rather tasty and I ended up giving him my number – or well not giving him my number but I wrote it on his shirt and said if he remembered me in the morning to give me a call.

After a bit more dancing and drinking Amy looked at her phone and said she had a lot of missed calls, I said she could use my phone to call the number back and turned out that it was Tom and Tim who had just turned up at the bar. I was really surprised they had bothered to come out.

Tom kept talking to me telling me that he was sorry for everything and didn’t want to make me leave blah blah blah……just a load of bollox coming out his mouth! But me being me I obviously believed him and thought that he meant it! so we stayed there for a little longer dancing and Sean was chatting to me too and he did seem really nice but then ended up leaving, and to hear more about that night and Monday night with Tom then as usual you know the drill its Read at your own risk – CLICK HERE!!

Saturday 24th

So Saturday I woke up around 9:30 grabbed all my stuff that I had packed up (thankfully the night before) and checked out of the hostel.

I then was thinking is me moving the right thing because of what had happened with Tom the night before but thankfully I did move after what happened on the Monday night! We waited around for a couple of hours and then finally got an Uber over to the new hostel. I said goodbye to everyone before I left which was a bit sad! But I knew I was doing the right thing!

So we checked in and then lay in bed for the majority of the day recovering from the night before, and as in Aussie way there was a smoking table where everyone seemed to gather, so after a few hours of napping I went outside for a smoke and met some of the people there who were drinking. I then saw beer and my mind obviously thought – oooooo what a good idea!!

So I went upstairs and woke Lisa up and went to the shop to get some booze, we then came back and had a few drinks at the table and got to talking to some of the lads there, they were on about balloons and I told them how many I had done in the last week, they asked me if I had a cracker and I said yes, so I let them use it. They offered me some but I said no as it’s just a waste me doing a couple! I need about 10 and straight from the cracker these days! Wish I could go back to having one and it feel like the first one I ever had but ahhh well!

We then found out there was a food market on just down the road so we walked down there and I had something from one of the stalls there which was one of the best things I have ever eaten! It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in the west end! Think I will be going there every weekend!

After food we decided to go to a bar to listen to some live music and have a couple of drinks, it started pissing it down while we were in there so unfortunately we had to stay longer and drink! Oh no what a catastrophe! When it finally stopped raining we walked back to the hostel, Lisa went to bed and I stayed up for a few drinks with the guys at the hostel, trying to research if me buying an iPhone off one of the guys there who wasn’t going to pay his contract would block my phone or not.  I then went to bed around midnight – so not too bad for me really!

Sunday 29th

Me and Lisa woke up and decided that we hated the hostel we were in! As we are planning on staying for a couple of months we wanted somewhere we could put all our stuff and have somewhere to chill out!

So we had a look on google and saw there was a place around the corner that looked quite nice so we decided to have a walk over and have a look at the place! And as soon as we got there we knew we wanted to move as they had a pool, places to chill. They let us look at the room we could potentially move into and we really liked it, our own bathroom, fridge, TV, and balcony.

So we went back to our hostel and decided that we wanted to move out, we had already paid for a week but we decided to ask if we could get a refund which they said we could but would just have to pay for an extra day over what we were staying and we were ok with that.

So we packed up our stuff and moved it all over, although as Lisa broke her collar bone I had to do a lot of carrying and heavy lifting and boy oh boy I was aching by the end of it. But on a plus at least I didn’t need to go to the gym! – Not that I have been even once since leaving home but still!

Once we had checked in we sat on our very own balcony and made a shopping list for the week and got a free lift to Coles (the supermarket) to get our supplies for the week and I had spoken to the phone company for the phone I wanted to buy and found out that the phone would not be blocked so decided to buy the iPhone off the guy in the other hostel, as I was so fed up trying to use the piece of shit phone I had got as my replacement.

So we went back down and got the phone and then came back to the hostel made some dinner and lunches for the next day and then had an early night.

Monday 25th

Back to work and it wasn’t too bad although they had started making us do tracking calls which meant lots of angry customers – ‘WHERE THE FUCK IS MY PARCEL???’ unfortunately when the person who is receiving an item calls up and their parcel is late we can’t deal with them we have to deal with the sender of the parcel as the contact for the postage is with them and as you can imagine this does not go down too well at all!!

So anyways…..the next day is Australia day which meant a day off for me. When I got home from work I thought we would end up having a chilled night ad there would be lots of parades etc. on the next day like there is on St.  Patricks day but after a lot of googling I couldn’t really see there was much going on so I decided that I wanted to get drunk that evening as I couldn’t the next day.

The lad from the other night in City backpackers (Sean) started texting me to and asked me out on a date which I thought I would message him back the next day

I ended up getting a phone call from Tom by accident as he was trying to reach Amy as she had used my phone to call him the night in city backpackers, anyway we had a little chat and as he had told me before I left that he had wanted to see me after I leave I was thinking all sorts and got quite happy he had called.

Me, Lisa and Abigail (the other girl in our room) decided to go out and have a few drinks, when we were out we met some guys from Ghana and we were drinking with them for ages, Tom was texting me and said he was going to walk to meet me which obviously I ended up doing! So again if you didn’t read it before then you can read about that night HERE! – READ AT YOUR OWN RISK PEEPS!

Tuesday 26th – Thursday 28th

So as I said before not much was happening on Australia day! So we spent most of the day in bed and then ventured down to south bank and had a few drinks in a bar, ate some more Mexican food. Then we walked back to the hostel past the ‘tree’ from the night before (if you read the read at your own risk you will know what I’m on about) had some laughs about that! And then sat on our balcony to watch the fireworks, and then used our TV to watch a film in bed and had an early night.

Then back to work it was on the Wednesday dealing with more angry Australians, where I had a few telling me I was not welcome in their country because I was English! – Well cheers for that!

But again nice surprises at work BBQ again, I do like this job! You get plenty of breaks and lots of freebies! Think I deffo lucked out on this one!!

Thursday was a bit of a shitty day as I found out one of my good friends from back home had died but had no idea why as obviously the time difference is so big, everyone was in bed when I found out, so that shook me up a bit.

RIP – SAM, going to miss you

Then back to the hostel and started writing this mountain of an update! Need to learn my lesson seriously about keeping this thing up to date!!!

Friday 29th

I came home from work on Friday and fancied having a few drinks, Lisa and Abi didn’t really want to do much so I was unsure on what to do and then I got a text from the guy that I had met in city backpackers.

He asked me if I wanted to go out for drinks with him so I thought why the hell not, I was already drinking before I met him and then we met up around 9:30pm and it was actually a really nice night. It didn’t feel awkward at all and we both had plenty to talk about.

And I have been saying that I wanted to be taken on an actual date rather than just being used in the way I have been with lets now call him Dick face!!

So anyways…..we went to a few bars and had a few drinks and then he kissed me, he wasn’t the best kisser in the whole world but that can be worked on I suppose. Although I don’t know if I will see him again as he is planning on moving on soon so I don’t really see the point to be honest. But it was a nice night none the less.

Saturday 30th

I woke up feeling extremely hungover as I had so much to drink the night before. I stayed in bed all day feeling sorry for myself and planned on not doing anything.

However in the evening I got a message from Amy saying that they were all going out for drinks as its Terhi and Julius’ last weekend, I didn’t really want to go anywhere near Tom but decided to just go and ignore him. I went and it was a good night until the end. Tom being regular old Tom and being a complete douche bag.

What a fucking surprise!

Although I got even more drunk and then drunk text him basically telling him I loved him! Woops! Haha

Sunday 31st

Was spent packing for New Zealand as I get to go see my mommy!!! Woooppppppp.

And I woke up feeling really happy that I never had to see tom ever again! Thank fuck for that! Time to move the hell on!!
