Melbourne & Ballarat

Friday 22nd July

Me, Tarsh and Dan left for Melbourne around midday on the 22nd, and arrived around 6pm to our motel with WiFi! Omg I have good WiFi! I am going so going to download lots of series and movies and update my music library!

I hate not having internet at the farm! First world problems hey!

So anyways…..we arrived around 6pm and I got to downloading stuff and then got ready and went over to see little one (Christy) as I won’t see her for a while because she is going home to Canada for a couple of months and then she comes back as I leave to go to Bali.

I grabbed a bottle of wine and headed on over to her house and we had a catch up while drinking vodka. Delightful!

We were there for a few hours and then a couple of her work friends came over to join us, we carried on drinking and then we walked into the cbd to go to a bar but as we arrived there they said I was too drunk to get in which I wasn’t, I just looked like an idiot because of the way I was walking with this bloody damaged hip of mine! Ridiculous! Haha

So we went onto somewhere else and what a beaut of a place it was! The tunes were bloody fantastic so we didn’t leave the dancefloor once and I was pulling out all my moves which I really shouldn’t have been doing with the bad hip and would come back to haunt me in the morning!

Once the booze started to wear off I decided to leave and go get a kebab (as ya do!) I haven’t had a kebab in ages being on the farm so naturally I decided while in Melbourne I would eat my little (or now getting bigger and bigger) heart out haha.

So I got my huge kebab and then jumped in an uber back to the motel around 4am and then passed out.

Saturday 23rd July

I woke up on Saturday morning and got myself ready, I didn’t feel too hungover which was nice! So I think the way forward for drinking is just too pre-drink and then don’t drink while out, and also end the night with a huge greasy kebab of course!

I was absolutely starving so I went out and grabbed myself some breaky and had a stroll around the Prahran market while I was waiting for Tarsh and Dan to get ready and come to meet me.

They came and met me and then we hopped on a bus over to the cbd to take Dan to the aquarium. It was so busy in there full of kids screaming and running around but it was still good, Dan was scared at first as it was his first fishy experience but once he got used to it he loved it.

It was a pretty good sea life centre, they had penguins there too which I LOVE!! Although I did feel a bit sorry for them in their small enclosure but that didn’t stop me snapping a selfie with one of them!

After the aquarium we went back over to South Yarra and went into the markets again where I decided to stuff my face with some fresh mussels which were beautiful! – I told you I was going to eat eat eat while I was here, can’t get this on the farm so it’s nice to indulge! Then back to the motel and Tarsh and Andy got ready for their night out to a 50th birthday, and me and Dan were staying the motel, he ended up passing out around 9pm and I just watched banshee and drank wine which was good, and although I wasn’t even slightly hungry I ordered myself some more food! Mexican this time! Hmmmm I wonder why I have put on 2 stone?? Haha.

I went to bed around 2 and then got woken up at 3:30am to Tarsh and Andy coming home shouting around the place drunkenly! Lol sounds like they had a good night.

Sunday 24th July

I woke up to little one calling me at 9am and then got ready and me and Dan went to meet her for breakfast – yes more food!!

IMG_3351[1]

This was the last time I was going to see her for a while now which is sad but we shall see each other again! Oh yes we shall!!

So we had breakfast and did some wondering around the market and then back to the motel where we had a cuppa with Tarsh and Andy and then me and little one said our goodbyes. Waaaa!!

Then me Tarsh and Dan drove to Ballarat as Tarsh had a dentist appointment the next day, and Tarsh was going to see her friend who lives there but I decided to just stay in the hotel and get an early night as I was so tired!

The place we were staying at was ridiculous, we were all in the same room and there were lots of people who looked homeless wandering around so I am pretty sure we stayed somewhere for the homeless, Tarsh was worried about us getting raped all night! Oh great! Haha but it was all fine!

Monday 25th July

Tarsh went for her dentist appointment and me and Dan went for breakfast and decided to take a stroll down to the lake where we nearly got attacked by black swans!

I knew all swans were evil! Especially black swans they just look like death!!

So I was stood by the lake trying to put a plastic sheet over the pram because it was really windy and while I was doing that a black swan came up behind me and started hissing and flapping its wings, I screamed and tried to run away with Dan and they chased us and then there were about 100 of these little black birds who then also started to chase us and I was screaming ‘get away from me!!’ I must have looked like a right fucking knob! Lol

Well we got away from them in the end but they were still trying to kick us out of their territory! So we didn’t stay at the lake for too long!

Then we walked back and met Tarsh and then Andy came to meet us as he was around the area and we had lunch then started the drive back up to the farm which took around 5 hours! – Such long journeys here!

A beautiful holiday in a holiday again! Although I think that may be the last time now until I leave the farm in about 6 weeks! – Eeeaaakkkkk excited!!!

Farm Life Part 5

29th June – 8th July

I last updated just after I got back from Adelaide, so the 29th June was the day we left Adelaide and headed back to the farm.

Since then It has been pretty quiet with not much to do other than the usual stuff of looking after Dan and the dogs etc., and I had decided that I was yet again going on a major health kick so I was doing my couch to 5k and also the 30 day shred, eating healthy etc. as I have put on 2 stone since leaving home! NOT GOOD!

Dan’s birthday was coming up so we did lots of preparing for that with decided on kid’s games and what food we were going to have for the adults.

The Chooks also got a new boyfriend the Rooster which we called Matt after the guy who gave him to them.

So pretty boring few weeks for documenting things to be honest.

New rooster on the farm named Matthew #rooster #chooksgotaboyfriend #makesomebabies

9th July – DANS BIRTHDAY

It had been raining a lot for the past few days so everyone was worried about getting here as most of the roads are dirt roads and it’s easy to get bogged and slip off the road and being out of range on the phone and quite a way away from anyone that can be a little bit worrying.

But people started arriving the night before so on the 8th and said it wasn’t too bad which was good, and we all sat around the table for dinner that night.

IMG_3082[1]

I was out of my room for the next few nights as it was needed for family staying so I said I would stay in my van, Tarsh and Andy were out of their rooms too and staying in the cottage so I said I would get up for Dan.

The problem with that was that it ended up being one of the coldest nights there, really frosty and just plain bloody freezing so when I got up in the middle of the night to get Dan as he was screaming I was just so cold and couldn’t bear going back in the van so I ended up sleeping on the couch with him.

IMG_3080[1]

Everyone started turning up the next day – Dan’s b’day, around midday, I was absolutely knackered as I had hardly slept because of being cold and also Dan waking up so much so I was really tired!

Oh well nothing a bit of bubbles won’t help!

I did end up going and napping in the van for a bit of the day too but it was still really cold in there! Deffo won’t be travelling around anywhere cold in winter next year thank you very much!!

The day was really good, Dan was just passed around everyone and seemed to be having a great day which was good!

IMG_3111[1]

One by one everyone dropped off and I was downing the wine as ya do! Forgetting that I had to get up for Dan again so I was pretty drunk by the time I went to bed and passed out and the next thing I knew was hearing Dan screaming his head off on the monitor so up I got to help him, and that happened a few times so another night without sleep.

Why do kids have to require so much attention?? Haha

10th July -22nd July

Everyone left quite early on the 10th and then it was back to normal life again for a while, the next few days me, Tarsh and Andy ate our dinner down on the sofas watching movies which was nice.

Then Andy was back to work with matt building his new shed for all the cars they have.

IMG_3224[1]

I got back onto the health kick of my running and healthy eating after the weekend but my hips started to hurt and I still pushed through thinking I was just aching because I was working out well but I don’t really know what happened to me.

All around my hips were hurting and felt like it was my bones and then after that it felt like the muscles in my groin were hurting like throbbing and I could barely walk, so I had to stop exercising completely as It just seemed to be making it worse. – What the fuck is going on with me? I feel like a 90 year old woman, and now I can’t even bloody exercise to get rid of this belly fat!!! Arghhhhh I’m doomed to get fatter and fatter and not be able to walk haha.

During these couple of weeks I applied for my second year visa and also my tax return and got them both come through so that was good, although I didn’t really understand about applying for the second year visa so as I applied while I was still in Australia they added onto the visa I already had which now gives me until 11th October 2017 which is great but I’m leaving Australia in September and going to Malaysia and Bali for a couple of months, then home for xmas and then I was coming back in January for another year, I spent ages on hold on the phone to the border control but they said that my old visa was now invalid and that I can’t do anything about it, but gave me an email address to call so I did and just waiting to hear back from them, fingers crossed I get good news but I doubt it.

Then it was time to go back to Melbourne for a few days as Tarsh and Andy were going to a 50th birthday and needed me to look after Dan for the night, so to read about that then click HERE.

Adelaide and Glenelg

Wednesday 22nd June – Saturday 25th June

We arrived into Naracoorte on the Wednesday to Tarsh’s Mom and Dad’s house, which everyone calls ‘The Resort’ because you get fed and you’re washing done etc. and it’s a nice time to relax…..and fatten up haha.

Di, Grace and the boys (Jack and Harry) came over on Thursday (they are the people that I stayed with at Wincanton – if you want to read about that then CLICK HERE.

So it was nice to see them and catch up and tell them all about the new van.

I went to the Naracoorte caves on Friday which was really nice, and I wrote a review on them so if you want to read about that then CLICK HERE.

Most of the time over the few days of being here though I was in my pyjamas for most of the day, ate so much food and cake, napped a lot and spoke to home a lot.

After a lot of food and even more cake and cups of tea it was time to leave, so Saturday morning we headed off to Adelaide where Tarsh and her mom and dad own a house just on the outskirts, which is really nice and quite close to the city.

Saturday 25th & Sunday 26th June

We got to Adelaide around 4pm, Andy turned up shortly after with another box from home, from my friends Kerry and Hannah which had more chocolate in and my favourite crisps ever called chipsticks, and of course Marmite as vegemite is disgusting!!  – I love my friends.

IMG_2762

Then we had a couple of hours before we went out over to Tarsh’s Cousins for dinner which was really nice, the food was amazing and we even got a little dance show from her daughter which was really sweet.

On Sunday we went for lunch with a big group of Tarsh and Andy’s friends to a pub, I was planning on going into the city but I didn’t in the end as we were at the pub for a while, the food there was also amazing – diet has gone out the window for the next few days I think!!

After we got back from lunch we only had an hour before we had to go back out again to some more friends of Tarsh and Andy.

There was a dog there so I was happy, and one of the boys had a campervan so he was showing us his van, although it is a Volkswagen one which is the dream! Haha, rather expensive though, so my rocket van will do just fine for now.

Monday 27th June

I woke up on Monday with an awful migraine and spent most of the morning trying to get rid of it, I forced myself to get ready in the end and go out to see the city.

So I went to the Botanic Gardens first which we nice, but compared to some of the other botanic gardens I have been too they weren’t that well-kept, there were lots of messy places around, and I would just have expected the whole place to be pristine just like the rest of Adelaide is. I did enjoy it though, there was a lot to see there.

After I walked around the gardens I took a stroll down to Rundle Street and grabbed myself a plate of food from a Mexican joint! I love that there are so many Mexican fast food places in Australia, something me and my sister have always said should be brought to the UK! Then I went to a coffee place called Cibo and got a coffee and a cake crunchy pastry thing which was filled with vanilla and chocolate ricotta omg it was so good!!! – So much for healthy living.

I then walked up to the museum and had a walk through there which is free and also quite interesting. They have lots of information on aboriginal culture and about animals etc.

As you can see I was acting like a grown up in there…..

Next door to the museum is the art gallery which is also free, so I walked through there also trying to act like a grown up. I don’t really get art galleries, I mean anything can be art these days, I could take a shit on the floor and call it a piece of art! But to be honest this one was ok! But I just don’t really care about art well not that kind of art anyways, I like Banksy stuff and anything graffiti wise but your general paintings I find a bit boring to be honest.

After I came out of the art gallery I decided that I would give myself a bit of a treat that evening as Tarsh and Andy were going out on a date and I was looking after Dan, so I thought I would pop to see the Rundle Mall and while I was there I popped into lush and got myself a face mask, a hair mask and a massage bar.

I then hopped in an Uber back to the house and they went out and left me with a screaming Dan, which I soon managed to get him happy again with some Ice cream followed by a bath, he does love the water!

Then I ordered some food, popped my face and hair masks on and stuck a film on and of course had a glass of wine to go with! It was a really nice night! Got to spoil yourself every now and then don’t you!

Tuesday 28th June

Me, Tarsh and Dan all went out for a little walk around by the Adelaide oval, the river is there and Tarsh wanted to walk over the bridge, it was really pretty around there.

There were however some black swans walking around and with my experience of swans in the UK (being EVIL!!!) I was a little scared to say the least, but Tarsh was just walking right up to them and they were walking past Dan while she was taking photos with me being terrified standing away from them all. – What a pussy hey lol.

Tarsh and Dan had to leave as they had a few appointments to go to like the pediatrition and Tarsh’s naturopath, so they left me around by the train station.

Adelaide are pretty good with free transport, they have a free tram that goes down to Glenelg which is where the beach is, so I hopped on that! It took around 45 minutes to get down there but it was a nice journey to see how pretty Adelaide is.

When I got to Glenelg I took myself for lunch at a Spanish place and ordered an aubergine bake, which was delicious, I then thought I would go for a stroll along the sea front.

I walked down to the harbour and sat on a big rock wall for a little while watching planes fly in every few minutes as its right by Adelaide airport. Then I walked down on to the beach to see the pelicans and noticed something else, right next to the rocks was a sea lion. He was just lay around and I thought he was dead at first but he was moving every now and again yawning. The guy patrolling the beach came over and said that the sea lion was called henry and he was from New Zealand and comes over here all the time. – Awwwww that’s so cute!!

After a lot of henry time I had to run back to the tram as I wanted to go see finding dory while I was close to a cinema, so I caught the tram back to the city and some guy on the tram was just pacing back and forth constantly he looked a bit creepy so I was just holding onto my bag quite tightly with clenched fists ready to fight if needed haha. – But nothing happened, maybe he just wanted to get his exercise in lol.

I then went over to Norwood and went to see dory which I thought was amazing! I loved it. It was the first film I had ever gone to see on my own but I was pretty happy with the decision of first film haha, I was surrounded by kids and also 2 very inappropriate adults who sat right behind me and decided that they would talk and also start kissing during the kid’s film! Hmmm……keep calm Sami! Keep calm!!!

After dory, Tarsh came and picked me up and we went back to her cousins for dinner which was nice, then back to the house to pack ready to leave in the morning.
