candle with care
FULL MELT POOL
When you light your candle for the first time, let it burn for 3 to 4 hours — or until the entire top layer melts edge to edge (that’s called a melt pool). Trust us, it’s worth it. This helps prevent tunnelling and means you’ll get a longer, cleaner burn with zero wasted wax.
TRIM THE WICK
Before you relight your candle, give that wick a quick trim. It should be no longer than 1cm. A shorter wick means a slower, cleaner burn and helps keep that pesky black smoke (soot) at bay.
KEEP IT CLEAN
Don’t let bits ruin the burn. Keep your wax pool free of wick trimmings or debris — they can clog the wick or act like a second one, making your candle burn faster than it should.
GIVE IT SPACE
Let your candle do its thing in a well-ventilated spot. Just keep it away from fans or drafts, as this can give you a flickering flame, leave black marks on the jar, and cause an uneven burn. A calm flame = a happy candle.
